Our Projects

At Mitchellville Drifters, we take pride in our commitment to giving back to the community. Our annual charitable activities include donating time and needed items to a halfway house for women with children who are looking to start a new life, distributing Thanksgiving baskets to underprivileged families, and supporting an impactful educational program and annual Book Award scholarships. Our outreach activities are aimed at making a positive impact on the lives of those in our community. Discover more about our projects below.

Educational Scholarship Program

The Mitchellville Drifters Educational Scholarship Program is an annual initiative which awards financial scholarships to graduating high school students who wish to pursue their dreams of higher education.

Avery House

The Mitchellville Drifters provide annual aid and assistance for residents of Avery House, a residential facility that provides sober-living transitional housing for mothers and their children.

Bowie Interfaith Pantry

The Mitchellville Drifters proudly partner with the Bowie Interfaith Pantry and Emergency Aid Fund, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing food assistance and essential support to individuals and families in need throughout Prince George’s County, Maryland.

Annual Back to School Drive

Sponsor annual donation drive to collect and distribute backpacks filled with school supplies to local elementary school.

Voter Registration

Voting is one of the most important ways we make our voices heard and participate in our democracy. By encouraging individuals to register, become informed, and participate in the electoral process, we are helping to strengthen our communities and our democracy, one voter at a time.

C.O.R.A.L.S Program

The Mitchellville Drifters CORALs (Character-built, Original, Resolute, Aspiring, Leaders) program is a youth mentorship program for Kindling and Splinters that pairs young people with supportive, positive role models to guide them through personal, academic, and social development. Our program offers guidance, encouragement, and access to new experiences and opportunities, ultimately contributing to the mentees' well-being and success.
